This week on Teenage Kicks, we celebrate the music of Everything But The Girl, with co-founder Ben Watt having a birthday on Monday, December 6. Along with vocalist Tracey Thorn, Everything But The Girl formed in 1982; their debut, Eden, came out in 1984 to acclaim in the U.K. Lauded sonically as an example of sophisti-pop, combining elements of soul, pop, and jazz, they later would add electronic and trip hop elements to the mix, scoring eight gold records in the U.K., and their biggest hit in America: 1994’s "Missing."
Since 1999, there have been no new albums from Everything But The Girl, but we’ll dig through their classics this week as our featured artists for Teenage Kicks.
