According to the Labor Department, nearly 4.5 million Americans quit their jobs in September — almost 1 million more than the pre-pandemic amount in September 2019. 

As a response to the pandemic and a general reevaluation of what’s important in life, experts are calling this economic trend “The Great Resignation” or “The Big Quit”, where employees have been voluntarily resigning from their jobs en masse, beginning in early 2021.
