Tuesday morning, the nominations were announced for the 2022 Academy Awards. Among the nominees are Questlove for his documentary Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) and Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood for his original score for the film The Power of the Dog.

The Oscar nominations also include a category for Best Original Song, and this year's nominees are:

• "Down To Joy" from Belfast (Van Morrison)

• "Dos Oruguitas" from Encanto (Lin-Manuel Miranda)

• "Somehow You Do" from Four Good Days (Reba McIntire)

• "Be Alive" from King Richard (Beyoncé)

• "No Time To Die" from No Time to Die (Billie Eilish)

It's an impressive field, and the winner will be announced when the Oscars are awarded on March 27.

But because only one song can win each year, Oscars history is strewn with great songs that didn't win. Some may argue many of these songs deserved to win over the one that took home the prize.
