Today is the 50th birthday of Billie Joe Armstrong, best known for his work as the frontman of Green Day. In 1994, Green Day made their major-label debut Dookie. The album was a breakout success and eventually sold nearly 20 million copies worldwide, making it not only the Green Day’s best-selling album, but one of the best-selling albums ever.

The influence of Green Day — alongside fellow California punk bands Bad Religion, the Offspring, Rancid and Social Distortion — reignited the popularity of punk rock and of pop-punk in the U.S. and beyond, and kicked off a surge in pop-punk music. So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what pop-punk songs do you want to hear?
